Brontosaurus
The image to the right shows what is called a Brontosaurus. Brontosauruses are herbivorous dinosaurs known for their long necks. They lived about 157 million years ago, which is relatively close to the end of the Jurassic period. Brontosaurus were shown to have lived in places in the Jurassic period that are now north America. Brontosauri get their name as a combination of the Greek words Brontë and Sauros which translates to thunder lizard. The largest species of Brontosaurus could reach up to 69 to 75 feet in length and 15 to 20 tons while the smallest species reached about 62 feet long. Brontosauri are also known for consuming stones to help digest unchewed plants in there stomach.
